Origins by Kate Thompson

It appears that this series was released in England a few years ago and is just now getting published in the U.S. following Thompson's success with The New Policeman. From what I could gather, it takes place sometime in the future when there are genetically altered animal/human combos. The narrative switches back and forth between a storyline about re-emerging conflict between Cats and Dogs, and the diary of a human boy who has obviously been off having two previous books' worth of adventures chasing after yeti and now hangs out in some underground lab in Scotland with scientists and a frog person. Yeah. That confusing. Probably interesting if you've read the first two worth having in the collection, but a NAY here.
